January 7, 2025
Due to the potential hazardous conditions anticipated from tonight’s cold weather into tomorrow morning, Prince George County Public Schools will operate on a TWO-HOUR DELAY on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
This means pickup and the start of the school day for students will begin two hours later than normal. Due to this two-hour delay, breakfast will not be served.
Essential staff are to report on-time. All other staff should report two hours late.
With temperatures expected to be well below freezing Wednesday morning, parents are encouraged to ensure their children are dressed warmly for pickup and clear any snow and/or icy patches from pickup and dropoff areas to avoid slips and falls as students return to school.
Finally, as a reminder, when students return to school tomorrow, our student cell phone use policy is now in effect. Briefly, this new policy, in accordance with state requirements, prohibits elementary school students from accessing personal technology during the school day, while middle and high school students must keep their devices silent, not visible, and stored away in their backpack, locker, or other location from the first bell of the school day to the last bell of the day, including during lunch and transition time between classes. Students in grades 6-12 may be able to use their devices before/after school as permitted by the school’s administrators.
