March 2, 2023
On Thursday, March 2, 2023, over a dozen special guest readers grabbed books and made their way to several classes across David A. Harrison Elementary School's campus as part of their celebration of Read Across America Day.
During the morning, students settled in for a variety of stories read by members of the Harrison community, Prince George County Public Schools division-level staff, and Jill Andrews, vice-chair of the Prince George County School Board.
The annual celebration, which falls on the birthday of Dr. Seuss, serves as an opportunity to inspire a love of reading in children and encourage individuals of all ages to discover new worlds that are only a page turn away.
While Read Across America Day is celebrated in early March, the National Education Association supports the initiative throughout the year to motivate children and teens to read and engage with literary arts.
